The .50 Alaskan dates back to the 1950′s when Harold Johnson,a gunsmith in Cooper Landing, Alaska, necked up and blew out the .348 Winchester case to .50 caliber. It proved to be an effective Bear stopper although a lack of good .50 Caliber bullets at the time doomed the round.

Since the cartridge had already been developed, our reintroduction of the .50 Alaskan was more of an exercise in making it feed and function in our Co-Pilot and our other custom Marlins. After hours of design, and numerous field tests, the .50 Alaskan is a reality and in full production.

Brass and Bullets are available for the .50 Alaskan. The original loaded ammunition is available from us and from the Hunting Shack
